Expected results


This project will enable the validation of the stomatal flux model, the refinement of criteria and the suggestion of validated thresholds for the protection of forests against ozone and climate change. These results will serve as a decision-support tool for national and European authorities.

The ecological indicators are an evolving tool, a starting point to be refined and revised as necessary. With information in hand, policymakers can make informed decisions about proposed changes to legislation and associated activities. The indicators are needed to improve understanding and monitoring of the effects of air pollutants on ecosystems and to scientifically assess the effectiveness of air pollution control strategies.

These results will be able to serve to establish lists of sensitive tree species for the forest management adaptation. This action interests the forest managers for the conservation of forest by an adapted global management. Adaptation measures are needed to ensure that the ecosystem services provided by forests are maintained under future climates. Sustainable forest management is essential for reducing the vulnerability of forests to climate change.
